His main goal as a guide is to establish a connection with his group and to try to understand what they are interested in, instead of trying to get them interested in what he’d like to share with them. Guiding walks is not merely about providing information, but mostly about sharing with visitors his experience as a local.

A venue offering a serene ambiance, where you can savor authentic Greek dishes and explore a distinctive selection of spirits and traditional aperitifs.

"This is a family taverna, where the Greeks go on a Sunday for traditional Greek food. I go here for the seafood. They have grilled squid that's very good, and I also like the squid stuffed with rice and raisins. You can also find pressed small fish and traditional Greek salads."

Volvi

This is a small spot that offers exceptional quality. The pitas are modest in size and contain only the essentials, highlighting the meat as the main attraction.

"This is a place for souvlaki, but it's very basic. They only serve two things: soutzoukakia or souvlaki. It's inside the meat market, so the locals and people from the market will go there because they know the meat is always fresh. There's no place to take a seat, so you just grab it like a snack and then continue with your shopping or exploring. It's a great, local experience."

The food is very tasty, and affordable too. This is an ideal spot for relaxing with friends on a sunny day. It is a bit out of the way in Votanikos, but you can take a taxi there."

Koukaki

Tucked away beneath the Acropolis and overshadowed by more renowned areas like Plaka, is one of the city's most inventive and delightful spots.

It's close to the National Archaeological Museum, so you can visit both in one day."

Effie, Archaeologist

Glyfada

Glyfada, with its vibrant and sunny beach vibe, serves as the chic entrance to the Athens Riviera, offering a perfect spot for seaside shopping and leisure.

"This is my neighborhood, it's about 14 kilometers south from the city center. It's a great place to take a stroll; the streets are much wider, and you're right by the water if you want to visit the sea. This would be a good place for families to stay if they want to be out of downtown but still enjoy plenty of shopping, cafes, restaurants, and activities."

Never on a Sunday

"You'll get to see more about the Greek psyche and why the Greeks are the way they are. It takes place in the port of the city, Piraeus, and you might take the ferry yourself while you're here, so you can relate to the film already, seeing the port, how it used to be and how it's today. So I would say it's a nice all time classic Greek movie to seen an open air cinema when the weather is nice."

What People Are Saying

"Antigone was an exceptional guide to the Acropolis and the magnificent Acropolis museum. She not only gave us a thorough understanding of what we were seeing on the site itself, but everything we could see below, including the Temple of Hephaestus and Mars Hill, where St. Paul had preached. We felt we were leaving an old friend when the tour was done."
